Ye, the man formally known as Kanye West, is not getting off the hook. Despite a successful comeback show in LA at SoFi Stadium, several countries have barred him from performing. Now, it appears France may join in protest as Ye’s June show in Marseille appears to be in jeopardy.
What is Happening With Ye’s France Show?
According to a report by Politico, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez is “very determined” to stop the concert and is exploring “every possibility” to prevent it from going ahead.
French daily Le Monde reported more details, writing that last week Nuñez raised the issue with regional and local leaders, including Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur prefect Jacques Witkowski and Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan.
Payan made his stance clear in a March 4th post on X addressing the upcoming show.
“I refuse to let Marseille be a showcase for those who promote hatred and unapologetic Nazism,” Payan posted. “Kanye West is not welcome at the Vélodrome.”
Le Monde reports that local state authorities can only ban a concert under strict conditions, if statements at the event risk constituting a criminal offense and if public order is threatened.
Ye has not addressed the situation yet.
This comes after Ye’s ban from the UK due to his past antisemitic remarks, forcing Wireless Festival to cancel.
Ye is facing a potential ban from performing in France after being blocked from entering the U.K.

What Else Is Going On With Ye?
As Ye attempts to get back in the good graces of the Jewish community, he faces more trouble than just country bans.
According to TMZ, Ye is being sued for an alleged 2024 assault.
The alleged incident happened at the Chateau Marmont, after Ye “sucker punched” a man while he was sitting at his dining table.
Per TMZ, the man claims that Ye “knocked him to the ground,” causing him to “hit his head and [lose] consciousness.” The plaintiff alleges that Ye continued his assault by “repeatedly [punching] him as he lay unconscious on the ground.”
Reportedly Ye’s assault stems from the man being inappropriate towards a woman who was in Kanye’s entourage. The plaintiff denies those allegations.
