Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke has died at 29 years old.
Grizzlies’ Clarke Dead at 29 years Old
His passing was confirmed by his agency, Priority Sports Group, in a statement on Tuesday Afternoon (May 12).
“We are beyond devastated by the passing of Brandon Clarke,” the statement reads. “He was so loved by all of us here, and everyone whose life he touched. He was the gentlest soul who was the first to be there for all of his friends and family. Our hearts are so broken as we think about his mom, Whitney, his entire family, and all of his friends. From high school to San Jose State to Gonzaga to the Grizzlies, Brandon impacted everyone who was part of his life.”
Carke was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019. And became a pivotal part of the roster. However, injuries became a factor in his young career. He appeared in just 72 games over the past three seasons. Despite not being a starter, he still became a major factor in their rotation. Averaging 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds over six seasons. Following his passing, the Grizzlies also released a statement.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the statement reads. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and even better person whose impact on the organization and the great Memphis community will not be forgotten. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
No details on Clarke’s cause of death have been released. May he rest in peace.
