Comedian Kevin Hart appeared on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (March 26). To address the backlash that he has received as a result of his Netflix roast, which aired earlier this month. But rapper turned podcaster, Joe Budden, doesn’t appear to be interested in any explanation that the comedian is offering.
Joe Budden Blasts Kevin Hart Over Breakfast Club Interview
During a recent episode of the Joe Budden Podcast, the Pump It Up creator called out Hart. For gaslighting people during his Breakfast Club Interview.
“Kevin Hart is gaslighting people,” Budden said. “The people that are offended don’t give a f*** that he had one of the best sets & if anyone is supposed to understand that it’s you.”
He also added:
“Some of those accusations about Kevin appear true & if Kev doesn’t look at himself as one of ours then I’m not about to keep looking at him that way..”
Hart came under heavy backlash because of one of the jokes made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe during his roast. During Hinchcliffe’s set, he made a joke about police brutality victim George Floyd.
“The Black community is so proud of you… right now George Floyd is looking up at us all, laughing so hard he can’t breathe,” he said.
Hart admitted that Hinchcliffe’s joke wasn’t a “tasteful” joke as far as the black culture is concerned. But added that the black audience that watched his roast should “understand” why those types of jokes were being told. And why “racial humor” is on the table during the roast. He also says that he “wasn’t shocked” that the joke was told.
Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne the God then asked the comedian if he felt like Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke went “too far,” by making the George Floyd joke. Kevin Hart responded that, given Hinchcliffe’s history, he “doesn’t expect less,” nor does he “expect more.” He also said that Hinchcliffe had “one of the best sets” during the roast.
