Rich Homie Quan’s father, Cory Lamar, recently appeared on the Its Up podcast. And during his appearance, he had some things to get off his chest about Birdman.
Quan’s Father Addresses Birdman’s Absence at Memorial
Rich Homie Quan died from an accidental drug overdose after taking multiple drugs, including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine in 2024. His sudden passing sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community.
During his memorial service, fans could not help but notice that Birdman was not present to show his support. While Quan was never officially signed to Birdman’s label, he and Young Thug were both a part of his Rich Gang Collective. So his absence rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
Quan’s father was blunt when addressing Birdman’s absence.
“Birdman is who he is, man,” Lamar said. “At the end of the day, man, you accept people for who they are.”
However, he did clarify that Birdman did not cease contact completely after his passing. And personally reached out to Quan’s father after his overdose and also offered his support.
“Bird reached out to me, he did. Listen, the day that my son passed, he called my phone. Like, ‘Hey, fam, I’m here, if you need anything,’” he continued. “He was being positive for me. ‘Look, I can’t tell you how to feel, but you know, keep your head up. I’m here for you if you need anything, fam. Call me.’”
While Birdman was not present for Rich Homie Quan’s memorial service, it does appear that he offered support to his family in other ways.
