On a previous episode of his self-named podcast, Budden said that Latto’s recent music sounded a lot like Drake.
“I feel like recently, she [has been giving] me a lot of Drake,” Budden said( via Complex). “You remember Latto’s intro from her last album? Most people said that this specifically sounds like Drake penned this [and] did the [reference] track.”
Budden also said that, specifically, Latto’s new song, Hostage with 21 Savage, could have been on Drake and Savage’s 2022 collab album, Her Loss. And also likened it to Drake’s new Iceman track, Shabang.
“This song sounds like it could’ve been on Her Loss. It sounds like they could’ve taken a couple of joints from there […] It’s too soon for me to hear ‘Shabang’ flow from somebody else. This sounds like the ‘Shabang’ flow to a T.”
This is not the first time Latto has hit back against people’s ghostwriter claims. She also appears to address the rumors that Drake ghostwrites some of her tracks on Business & Personal. The intro on her new album, Big Mama. In her response, Latto doesn’t hold back on her critics. And calls the rumor a “compliment.”
“I’ve made more honey buns than that h*e Lil Debbie. Call me Big Mama, like a fat b***h. Oh, they think Crodie wrote it; that’s a compliment. I brush my teeth twice, ’cause I’m talking s**t. Like f**k a hater red light barely stopping this,” she raps on the track (via Kurrco/x)
At the time of writing, Budden has not responded to Latto.
