On Wednesday (July 1), a video of rap star Pooh Shiesty, allegedly holding Gucci Mane at gunpoint, leaked on social media. And now his former lawyer, Bradford Cohen, has weighed in on the video.
In a clip shared by SayCheese on X, Cohen says that the evidence leaks are an underhanded move by the prosecution to “benefit” their case.
Pooh Shiesty’s Ex-Lawyer Responds to Recent Leak
“I think it’s pretty nasty work that there are leaks coming from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Texas,” he says. “On evidence that they feel will benefit their case. Of course, they’re not leaking evidence that will not benefit their case; that’s the first part of that.”

In the video, a person who looks to be Gucci Mane (dressed in the yellow sweatsuit) appears. And is trying to leave the confrontation. Before one of the assailants flashes a Draco-style firearm. Shiesty then makes Gucci Mane say on camera that he is releasing Shiesty from his deal with his record label, 1017 Brick Squad.
However, even after the video appeared to catch Shiesty red-handed in the act, Cohen says that the evidence doesn’t dispute his initial argument. And that, based on the video, Shiesty cannot be charged with a federal crime.
“It does not negate my argument — my legal argument that I made at the bond hearing. Of whether or not this is a kidnapping case. The legal definition of federal kidnapping does not meet this ,” Cohen continued.
“The benefit that they are having in this video is allegedly his getting out of a contract, which he never got out of and never used. Nothing ever happened from it. So it does not change my argument that this is a federal kidnapping charge. They didn’t prove anything with the cellphones that they allegedly used. All of these different things are out of the federal realm of charging a crime.
He also says that prosecutors said that Shiesty had an AK-47-style weapon. But in the video leak, Shiesty does not have a weapon on him.
Cohen initially represented Shiesty when he was arrested back in April. But recused himself just a few weeks later.
However, he said that his withdrawal from the case has nothing to do with his confidence that he can win. And he gave a vote of confidence to the two attorneys who will be substituting for him.
