For over 30 years, no one has been held responsible for Tupac Shakur’s murder. But now, that has changed. One of the longest cold cases in Hip Hop history has a partial resolution.

One hour ago, a jury found former Southside Crips Higher Up Duane “Keefe D” Davis guilty of first-degree murder after a three hour deliberation. Keefe D is the first person to be held responsible for the tragic death of Tupac Shakur.

He now faces life in prison, after prosecutors argued he was the lead orchestrator in the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Other people involved, including the man Tupac got into a confrontation with Orlando Anderson, Keefe D’s nephew, have all died, leaving Keefe D as the sole survivor of the murder.

Some argue that Sean “P. Diddy” Combs should also be held accountable for his alleged involvement.

The prosecution’s case relied heavily on Keefe D obtaining a gun, getting a crew together and arming the shooter who killed Tupac on September 7, 1996. They say it was in retaliation of Tupac beating up Anderson outside the MGM Grand after a Mike Tyson boxing match.

The case had gone cold for years, but Davis said in multiple interviews he was involved with Pac’s death, going as far as to sell his memoir as telling the story of that fateful night.

The talking caught up with him, leading to his arrest.

It’s unclear if prosecutors will try to go after Diddy as well, who’s currently incarcerated.

It’s also unclear if Davis will try to appeal the sentence, though, it’s not expected for him to take a plea deal.
