Diddy’s Federal Trial Pushed Back Amid New Charges
Despite multiple attempts to be granted bail, his request has been continuously denied by the judge. He is currently being held at Brooklyn Detention Center. His trial was originally slated to begin on May 5. However, that date has now been nixed after new charges were brought up against the music mogul. This is according to Deadline.
“Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial for sex trafficking and more has been pushed back a week to May 12. Following a hearing Friday in New York federal court,” Deadline writes.
“The shift from the original May 5 start date came during a session on the superseding indictment of forced labor against Combs that prosecutors brought down last week, adding to claims of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.”
Combs is facing a slew of charges from sex trafficking to sexual assault. And since his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura came forward to share her experience with the Bad Boy Founder, several other men and women have come forward. Sharing that they experience similar encounters to Combs.
According to Deadline one of the prosecutors in the case says they have north of 20 witnesses prepared to testify against Diddy. However, many of them are still fearful for their safety.
“Prosecutor Mitzi Steiner from the Southern District of New York revealed that feds have another 20 potential witnesses – as yet unidentified – who are “incredibly frightened” at the thought of having their names disclosed to the defense, as intimidation and fears of possible violent retribution from Combs,” Deadline added.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Combs.
