After being waived by the Sacramento Kings earlier this month, DeMar DeRozan is officially a free agent. And already has his eyes on where he wants to play basketball in 2027.
Drake Associates Don’t Want A DeRozan, Raptors Reunion
A new report from NBA insider Jake L. Fischer suggested that DeRozan could be interested in a reunion with the team that drafted him, the Toronto Raptors.
But with DeRozan on the outs with Drake, two of the rap star’s associates appear to be against DeMar reuniting with their hometown franchise.
In a post shared by Big_Business_ on X, Drake associate Chubbs responds to the report with a thumbs-down emoji. While Preme questions why none of the Los Angeles teams want him.

DeRozan had built a strong bond with Drake during his initial stint with the Toronto Raptors.
But that all changed when DeRozan appeared in the music video for Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us. Even though DeMar had a close relationship with Kendrick as a fellow Compton native.
When addressing his cameo in the Not Like Us visual, DeMar said it was nothing more than him doing his friend a solid.
“Kendrick is basically family. Obviously we’re from the same city, but that’s family. Whatever I ever need from him, I ask him, and vice versa,” DeRozan said. “When he did the song, he asked me to be a part of it, and whatever it is he’s doing, I’m going to be a part of it without a thought. That’s kind of always been our relationship.”
But despite being close friends with Kendrick, DeMmar insists he has no animosity toward Drake.
“Drake’s still my man, still my man, none of it changed,” DeRozan said. “It’s so easy to get overlooked and look at it for what it looks like, but at the end of the day it’s music, entertainment. Two of the biggest rappers in the world went at it from a competitive standpoint, and they battled it out.”
