The New York Knicks are on a historic playoff run. And hometown native Fat Joe has had a front row seat to it all… well, for most of it.
Fat Joe Says Knicks Owner Was ‘Pissed’ about His Courtside Ban
Fat Joe and Jadakiss were scheduled to meet with members of the press during the Knicks media availability ahead of Game 3. But the podcast duo ended up in a media scrum of their own.
During the scrum, Joe revealed that he had attempted to purchase courtside tickets to see the Knicks play against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals back in May. However, he was turned away after they found out it was he who had attempted to acquire the seats. He also says that once Knicks Governor James Dolan found out what happened, he was “pissed” and threatened retaliation.
“In Cleveland, I bought courtside… They turned it away when they knew it was Fat Joe, the Knicks fan. Mr. Dolan was so pissed, he said, ‘Man, we go Game 5? I’m putting the owner on the upper deck!’ That’s when I really knew. He solidified it, I said this guy? He’s for us,” he said, caught by Clutch Points.
Knicks owner James Dolan threatened to put Cavs owner Dan Gilbert in the nosebleeds after the Cavs banned Fat Joe from sitting courtside in Cleveland 😭

It didn’t have much effect on the result. The Knicks won games three and four in Cleveland and swept Cleveland en route to the NBA Finals.
In fact, the Knicks haven’t lost in nearly two months. Their last loss came in the first round against the Atlanta Hawks on April 23. Since then, they have reeled off 13 straight victories and are in a prime position to win their first NBA title since 1973. Fat Joe says that this win streak has unified the city in ways he hasn’t seen in years.
“I’ve seen Hasidic Jews break dancing with Black kids. This is the greatest unification of the city since 9/11,” he added.
The Knicks have an opportunity to take a commanding 3-0 lead in Game 3 on Monday Night (June 8).
