Tory Lanez Catches Heat During Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic Set
Jay-Z didn’t spare anyone who’s had his name in their mouth over the past several months. Including Tory Lanez and his father, Sonstar Peterson.
“The Roc’s not crumbling, the leprechauns have magically run out of pranks/Your son on the federal jail-line mumbling something/About having too much in his drink/You know how dumb that is?” he rapped in part of the freestyle (Via NoJumper/X).

Lanez is currently serving a ten-year sentence for shooting rap star Megan Thee Stallion in the foot during an altercation in 2020. Megan is managed by Jay-Z’s music label Roc Nation. And Lanez’s father asserted that Roc Nation was indirectly influencing the legal proceedings and sabotaging his son’s defense.
The bars couldn’t come at a worse time for Lanez and his team. The rapper recently filed a motion. He claims that he is a victim of retaliation. From guards at the California Men’s Colony, where he is currently serving his sentence. Lanez claims that the guards are threatening him with “escalating threats and intimidation tactics designed to push him into a more dangerous prison yard.”
In a statement to AllHipHop, the rapper’s attorney, Crystal Morgan, says that Lanez has been disciplined for things that “do not have a legitimate reason for correction.
“[Tory Lanez] is receiving capricious violation write-ups for non-infraction activities, which do not have a legitimate reason for correction. As these alleged violations only began after the filing of the underlying complaint,” Morgan said in the statement. “Such actions have a chilling effect on all people who are incarcerated, as it demonstrates to Plaintiff and other individuals what will occur if they exercise their First Amendment right to redress the government for grievances.”
Lanez is scheduled to be released from prison in August 2033.
