A man accused of stealing unreleased music from Beyoncé has pleaded guilty and accepted a prison sentence in connection to the high-profile theft that took place in Atlanta last summer.
According to reports, Kelvin Evans entered a guilty plea Tuesday to several charges tied to the incident, avoiding a trial that could have resulted in a much longer sentence. Investigators say surveillance footage captured Evans breaking into a rented SUV belonging to a member of Beyoncé’s team just days before her Atlanta stop on the “Cowboy Carter” tour.
Authorities say a flash drive containing unreleased Beyoncé music was among the items stolen during the break-in. Evans had previously pleaded not guilty and reportedly rejected an earlier plea deal back in March.
While he was originally facing up to six years behind bars, Evans was sentenced to two years in prison as part of the agreement. Prosecutors also claim he may be connected to other vehicle break-ins in the area.
