On Monday (April 7), Billboard released their annual list compiling the greatest female rappers of all time based on a comprehensive set of criteria, including chart performance, cultural impact, lyrical skill, longevity, and flow. The rankings, which saw Nicki Minaj come out on top, have since sparked widespread debate across social media – now, Thugger is getting in on the action.
After Akademiks reposted a ranking of Billboard‘s list on Wednesday (April 9), the Atlanta rapper wondered why his girlfriend Mariah The Scientist was not included.
“Where Mariah at tho,” he wrote in the comments section.
As for the rest of Billboard’s ranking, Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim, and Queen Latifah rounded out the top five. Several newer artists made the list as well such as Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat at 15 and 16 respectively. Doechii also ranked 24th.
Young Thug publicly speaking up for his girlfriend may have something to do with the slight turbulence in their relationship. Recent reports have brought to light his interactions with multiple women while incarcerated, prompting doubts about his loyalty.
A leaked jail call revealed Thugger casually admitting to conversing with “at least 10 other girls” to pass the time. In the same conversation, Thug expressed concern for Mariah’s emotional well-being, fearing his actions could “devastate” her given her deep affection for him.
Following the release of the call, issued a public apology and declared his love for his beaux.
“Sorry to my baby for all this bulls–t on the internet. I love u baby and f–k em all we know what’s up with us!” he wrote on X.
