Santino Casio, the man who executed the attack on Lanez, is as dangerous as they come. The 42-year-old inmate has been in the facility since 2004. After he was sentenced to life imprisonment for convictions of second-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.
Tory Lanez’s Attacker Claims Self Defense
However, despite his violent history, in a new interview with TMZ Casio is claiming that his assault on Lanez was an act of self-defense.
“Casio told us he heard rumors through the prison grapevine that Tory had a bounty on him. Shortly after, Casio ran into him and thought he saw a suspicious lump in Tory’s pocket,” TMZ writes.
“He says he thought it was a weapon — so, he jumped him, hit him, and stabbed him 14 times … yet Casio claims he wasn’t trying to kill Tory.”
However, Lanez’s legal team shut down Casio’s self-defense claims, calling the attack “savage and ferocious.”
The statement reads: “The recent attempt on his life was savage and ferocious, underscoring the clear and present danger he faces while incarcerated. Any claim to the contrary particularly from an individual serving a life sentence for heinous crimes is not only baseless but an absurd fabrication.”
Following Lanez’s assault, his father Sonstar Peterson, revealed that Tory is being transferred to another prison facility. For his safety.
“He’s being moved because it’s part of the prison’s protocol that when a situation like this happens. They believe it’s better for him to be in another facility. And so he is being moved as we speak,” he said. “One thing, of course, we are concerned about is because my son is a high-profile person. And when things like this happen, there is always some kind of weird news going out. Trying to spin it to be something else.”
