Afrika Bambaataa Loses Assault Case

Per a report from Pitchfork, the former Zulu Nation member was accused by a man of child sexual abuse. The suit was filed in 2021. However, Bambaataa never responded to the complaint, which has now turned into a default judgment in favor of the plaintiff.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous during the legal process, alleges that he was sexually abused and trafficked. By the legendary DJ from 1991 to 1995. At the time of the alleged abuse, John Doe was just 12 years old. Bambaataa would have been either 34 or 35 years old.

This is not the first time that the former famed DJ has faced these types of allegations. In 2016 a former member of his group Universal Zulu Nation came forward with claims that she was assaulted by Bambatta.

However, the Zulu Nation boss vehemently denied the claims, calling the accusations “baseless and cowardly”

“I, Afrika Bambaataa, want to take this opportunity at the advice of my legal counsel to personally deny any and all allegations of any type of sexual molestation of anyone,” he said in a statement to Rolling Stone in 2016.

“These allegations are baseless and are a cowardly attempt to tarnish my reputation and legacy in hip-hop at this time. This negligent attack on my character will not stop me from continuing my battle and standing up against the violence in our communities, the violence in the nation, and the violence worldwide.”
