Jay-Z made a power move this week—quietly popping up at the New York State Capitol on Monday (June 2) for a closed-door meeting with Democratic Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.

Word from the Senate is that the Roc Nation boss is pushing hard to lock down one of the three new gaming licenses New York is expected to issue this year. His goal? To bring a Caesars Palace casino to the storied Times Square.
Yep, that Times Square.
Hov’s been championing the project for a minute now. In an open, he broke down why this bid matters—not just for Roc Nation, but for New York City as a whole.
“The winning licensee must always put the well-being of New Yorkers at the top of their agenda and do right by its residents,” the letter reads. “This is too important of a moment in our city’s illustrious history. Times Square, the epicenter of entertainment with a palpable energy, is unmatched.”
If Roc Nation wins the bid, Jay-Z will reportedly make history as just the second Black casino owner in U.S. history—and the first to ever do it in Times Square.
The Roc Nation head clearly has his hands tied with this latest business venture. This could explain why he hasn’t taken time to address former collaborator Ye’s public cry to rekindle things.
In a June 1 post, the “Donta” creator revealed he has “dreams” of apologizing to the Roc Nation founder.
“All my dreams have been about apologizing to Jay Z,” his post reads.
Ye likely wants to reconcile over his social media rant in March where he called Hov and Beyoncé’s twins, Sir and Rumi, “ret****d.”
