From the moment he broke out in the early 90’s, Snoop Dogg has prided himself as more than just a rapper. From music to film to the cannabis industry, the Long Beach legend has made a career out of shaping the everyday into something iconic. Now, he’s bringing that same instinct to the art world.
His new project, Ashes to Art, is exactly what it sounds like: a fine art collection made from the remnants of his own smoked joints. In collaboration with The Joint Venture, Snoop teamed up with artist and co-founder Erica Kovitz to transform his roaches into collectible works preserved in resin, pigment, and glitter, each one signed by Snoop himself. The result is a series of pieces that sit at the crossroads of hip-hop history, cannabis culture, and contemporary art.
Priced from $9,000, five of the seven available works have been sold as of the exhibition’s closing on Monday (August 18). Pocket High Emerald—a vivid green panel centered around a single smoked roach—went for $10,000. Doggystyle Decoded–showcasing an original copy of Snoop’s classic Doggystyle CD–reached $20,000, while other works like Tiphany Smokes, Golden Hour Cypher, Orange Chill, and White Whisper each pulled bids in the $12,500 to $15,000 range.
But the emerging crown jewel of the collection is Snoop Doggy Dogg Genesis Burn. Currently sitting at a staggering $112,000 bid, the piece incorporates Snoop’s original “Snoop Doggy Dogg” signature and his infamous 1993 LAPD mugshot, its edges charred and dusted with marijuana ash, sealed with one of his own smoked roaches. It’s more than art—it’s a snapshot of hip-hop history, reimagined through Snoop’s lens.
Each piece arrives with a certificate of authenticity, guaranteeing that buyers are holding something directly tied to Snoop’s smoke sessions. For him, though, the project isn’t just about novelty—it’s about cementing his story in a new medium, giving fans and collectors the chance to own a piece of his legacy in a form that feels timeless.
