Fans in Bogotá, Colombia were left stunned Saturday night (Sep. 28) after Kendrick Lamar ’s highly anticipated concert was called off just hours before showtime. The rapper was set to perform at the Vive Claro arena as part of his Grand National Tour, but organizers pulled the plug at the last minute, citing “operational problems.”

Event promoter Páramo Presenta released a statement confirming the cancellation:
“We regret to inform you that, due to logistical difficulties from the promoter and the venue, the Grand National Tour performance scheduled for tonight has been postponed. The artist was ready to perform.”

While Kendrick Lamar was reportedly on site and prepared to hit the stage, venue doors remained locked well past the scheduled opening, fueling tension among fans waiting outside with no updates. Organizers later announced that automatic refunds would be issued for tickets purchased via Ticketmaster.

Local officials pointed fingers at the venue itself. Bogotá councilman José Cuesta Novoa blasted the Vive Claro arena online, calling it “sketchy from the jump” and claiming the building suffers from “structural and technical failures.” He even urged the city’s mayor to shut the site down completely. That sentiment was echoed by city engineers, who reportedly flagged the arena after a safety inspection.

According to local media, the venue’s aluminum stage structures failed to meet safety standards. On top of that, Kendrick ’s planned use of pyrotechnics was allegedly denied by the stadium, creating even more friction behind the scenes.

Sources close to the artist confirmed that the show’s cancellation came down to “stage issues and permit issues,” with Lamar’s team noting the production was nearly sold out before the plug was pulled.

As of now, there’s no official word on a rescheduled date in Bogotá, but fans are hoping K.Dot makes it back to Colombia sooner rather than later.
