Vanessa Simmons and Angela Simmons, the daughters of hip-hop icon Rev Run, were pop culture staples in the early 2000s. This was due in large part to Pastry, the footwear brand that they started together.
Vanessa Simmons Teases Pastry Comeback
However, in 2012, Angela and Vanessa stepped away from the day-to-day operations of the Pastry brand 2012 to pursue other ventures. But the brand could be making a comeback.
When she was asked about a potential return for the footwear brand during a recent appearance on Her Rich Life podcast, Vanessa did not exactly confirm that Pastry was returning. But she also did note that she and Angela have “discussed” the idea of a potential comeback.
“We’ve discussed it… I don’t know. We’ve discussed it. I’ll just leave it at that. I don’t want to say yes, I don’t want to say no,” she said. “There may be room for more collaborations from Angela and me to come. That would be similar and within that world.”
The original “Pastry” brand was a successful line of women’s sneakers launched in 2007 by the Simmons sisters. And at one point became a top brand for dance and cheerleading shoes. It was a highly successful business venture. As the company amassed $75 million in gross sales while in production.
But working with family can get difficult sometimes. And Simmons did note that things with the Pastry brand did get “tricky” at times. But she also noted how much fun she had while working with the brand.
“I love working with family. It was the best time ever… just to have the opportunity to do that, and at such a young age was incredible,” she concluded.
It will be interesting to see if the once-popular footwear brand does end up making a comeback in the future. Stay tuned for more updates.
