Rap artist Stove God Cooks gained notoriety after dropping his collaborative album Reasonable Drought with Roc Marciano and features with Griselda Records artists like Westside Gunn. After gaining co-signs from rap legends such as Busta Rhymes and Lord Jamar, he inked a deal with independent label Babygrande Records in 2020. However, he appears ready to go solo based on his recent social media activity.
Stove God Cooks Calls on Jay-Z, Roc Nation For Help
On a post to his social media account on Thursday (January 8), Stove God Cooks sent a call to help for Jay-Z and his record label, Roc Nation. To help get him out of his current deal with Babygrande.
“Yo Hov, get me out of this s**t,” he wrote in the social media post.
After seeing the social media post, fans became even more pessimistic about the rapper dropping a new album.
“We’re not seeing that new album next month, are we smh,” one fan asked on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Other users blasted the label for not giving the rapper a bigger push.
“How can they continue to drop the ball after being featured on a Grammy-nominated AOTY? Shits crazy,” one person asked, referencing his verse on Clipse’s 2025 album.
“Stay indie, those labels will have you ready to do something violent,” a third user remarked.
Roc Nation has a history of helping rappers get out of bad contracts. It was Jay-Z’s label that helped Grammy-winner Megan Thee Stallion get out of her contract with 1501 Records. And most recently, super producer, Hit Boy, saluted HOV and Desiree Perez for helping him out.
In July 2025, he revealed that Jay-Z and Roc Nation President, Desiree Perez, helped get him out of an 18-year publishing deal.
“[They] helped secure my freedom. Today I am a free man. I feel like I just got out of the pen after an 18-year sentence,” Hit Boy wrote on social media (Via AllHipHop).
“Much appreciation to Desiree Perez for also making this happen. The love and respect on my end runs deep, and I appreciate all the help [for real].”
It will be interesting to see if they can do the same for Stove.
