Paramount Global is reportedly acquiring Tyler Perry’s minority ownership stake in BET, marking a major shift in the network’s ownership structure.
Along with the acquisition, BET is also preparing to shut down its standalone streaming platform BET+. According to reports from Variety, the service’s content library will be integrated into Paramount+ beginning in June.
The move is expected to consolidate BET’s digital programming under Paramount’s broader streaming ecosystem, giving subscribers access to BET+ originals and catalog titles through Paramount+.
The transition signals another step in the ongoing shift within the streaming industry, as media companies streamline their platforms and combine content libraries to strengthen their main services.
