Jay-Z is not backing down in his $20 million defamation lawsuit. In the latest update, HOV is using Diddy’s ongoing legal drama leverage.
Jay-Z Uses Diddy’s Legal Drama to Strengthen Defamation Suit
To bring things up to speed, the Roc Nation boss filed a defamation and extortion lawsuit in early 2025 against Jane Doe and infamous attorney Tony Buzbee. After a 2024 sexual assault lawsuit brought against him and Diddy was dismissed, Jay-Z is now looking to recoup. Claiming the allegations were fabricated for financial gain.
According to AllHipHop, HOV is demanding that the woman, who has remained anonymous throughout the proceedings, reveal her identity. They cited past cases brought up against the Bad Boy Records founder, where anonymous Jane Does were not allowed to seal their identities.
Jay-Z believes that Jane Doe being allowed to keep her identity a secret will lead to a “highly prejudiced” legal process.
Combs and Jay-Z came under fire in 2024 after a Jane Doe accused them of sexual assault. The alleged assault happened 25 years ago when Doe was only a teenager.
After the civil suit was dismissed in 2025, Jay-Z ripped the allegation. Calling it “laughable” and “without merit.”
“This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone.” Jay-Z wrote.
Jay-Z also acknowledged the “trauma” that he, his wife, Beyonce, and his three children, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir, have had to endure over the last several weeks. He also ripped the prosecutor Tony Buzbee a “1-800 lawyer.”
“The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed. This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit, hiding behind Jane Doe. And when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions,” he adds.
