Kid Cudi has heard the calls to remove M.I.A. off his tour and he listened. On Monday (March 4th), Cudi posted that he’s made a decision regarding M.I.A.’s status on the tour.
What Did Kid Cudi Say?
Taking to Instagram, Cudi posted a statement about the situation.
“TOUR UPDATE: M.I.A is no longer on this tour,” Cudi posted. “I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows, cuz I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood. After the last couple shows, I’ve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants. This, to me, is very disappointing and I won’t have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase. Thank you for understanding. Rager.”
Cudi’s announcement comes off the heels of the controversial UK rapper going viral for making an illegal immigrant joke and reportedly going on political rants during the Dallas stop of the tour.
“I can’t do ‘Illegal’,” M.I.A. said. “There’s some of you who could be in the audience.”
Booing began soon after, prompting her to clarify her comments.
“Alright, I’m Illegal,” she said. “Half of my team aren’t here because they couldn’t get a visa. I want you to know that. So don’t listen to what the bots say on the internet.”
While the actual moment of her going on the “Republican rant” has so far not been posted, several people in the audience claim it happened.
Cudi has not announced if someone will replace her as an opener.

How Did Fans React To M.I.A.’s Removal?
While just announced, fans have already made their opinions known on the matter.
“NOOO I WAS SO HYPED TO SEE HER ON THE TOUR IN ATLANTA THIS WEEK,” one user posted.
“Completely understandable,” another user posted. “When I first saw that MIA was gonna be on the Cudi tour I thought it was the perfect opportunity for her to clean her image but instead she used it to do some bulls*** Besides I’ve heard A-Trak & Big Boi were throwing better sets anyways”
“That didn’t take long,” another user posted. “Good on Cudi for actually doing what he had to here but also, like…don’t invite the insane person in the first place?”
“That’s hilarious she should not be removed but low key she deserves better than that dollar tree stage set, you this broke? @KiDCuDi, another user posted.
Several fans prior to the announcement had publicly asked Cudi to boot her from the tour.
