50 Cent is no stranger to being in courtrooms. But this time it is he who is on the defense.
An April 30 report from TMZ revealed the Power creator is being sued by a woman named Monica Mayers. A person who claims she worked for the rap star for over a decade. In a “senior operational role across his various businesses.”
Mayers claims she is the victim of the rap star. And is suing the television star for “emotional distress and invasion of privacy,”
50 Cent Breaks Silence on Former Employee’s Lawsuit
However, 50 released a statement through his attorney, Reena Jain. Who says the rap star “categorically” denies Mayers ‘baseless claims.
“This lawsuit is nothing more than a transparent attempt to use the guise of a legal proceeding to seek an unjustified payday well outside of the applicable Statute of Limitations,” Jain said in the statement.
“Furthermore, [50 Cent] takes any threats to himself, his current and former employees, and any witnesses incredibly seriously. Contrary to the false narratives being peddled in this complaint, when these alleged threats were brought to light, Mr. Jackson’s legal counsel actively encouraged Ms. Mayers to go to the authorities. Moreover, Mr. Jackson’s counsel proactively reported these alleged threats to law enforcement as well to ensure they were thoroughly investigated.”
Mayers says that 50 was going through bankruptcy towards the end of her tenure. And the film producer asked her to hide property in her name to prevent it from being seized.
She also says that 50 Cent asked her to file a false police report. She was asked to frame his driver/bodyguard for stealing his car and $600,000 in cash.
But when she refused to do either of those things, 50 Cent responded by terminating her. She also says that she was scheduled to have a feature done on her by Forbes magazine. But 50 retaliated by having the feature cancelled when she refused to do his alleged dirty work.
