Rap star Nicki Minaj recently sat down for an interview with TIME Magazine. And she had some interesting things to say about Jay-Z.
Minaj Says Obama’s Bond With Jay-Z Had Negative Impacts
Minaj has been very outspoken about her political views over the last several months. And has expressed her disdain with the democratic party after aligning herself with the Trump administration. Particularly, she expressed her displeasure with former U.S. President Barack Obama. Particularly, his alignment with Jay-Z. She has been accused of trying to sabotage her career through his Roc Nation Label.
During her conversation with the outlet, Minaj insists that she is not the only artist who feels this way about HOV. And she believes that ended up negatively impacting Obama’s public perception in the long run.
“I think Jay-Z ended up costing Obama a lot, whether he knows it or not,” she said to the outlet. “Lots of rappers don’t like Jay-Z and were afraid to say it.”
Minaj has a documented history of issues with the Roc Nation Founder. But the beef has been one-sided. The rift appeared to begin after Jay-Z selected Kendrick Lamar to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2024. She took issue with his selection, especially because the big game was being hosted in Weezy’s hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Since then, Minaj has gone on several rants in which she accused HOV and Roc Nation President, Desiree Perez, of trying to censor her and even plotting a conspiracy against her. However, despite several attacks from the Pink Friday creator, Jay-Z has yet to issue a response.
