Drake is still celebrating the release of his trilogy of new albums. And it appears to have restored the feeling in hip-hop.
Giveon & Sevyn Thomas Give Drake His Flowers
After beginning the rollout for his ninth studio album last July, not a single hip-hop song had charted on the Billboard Hot 100. But that all changed on May 15. When Drizzy dropped Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour. During a recent appearance on Apple Music, Drake Collaborators Sevyn Thomas and Giveon gave him his flowers.
Sevyn Thomas called the album “integral” to the music industry as a whole. And said that his impact is something that can’t be overstated.
“I’m stuck on Iceman. It’s such an integral part of what’s going on right now. We needed Drake,” Thomas said as caught by Big_Business on X. “Drake is so important to culture, music, and songwriting. We’re eternally grateful for everything Drake has done for not only us, but for music in general.”
Giveon echoed a similar sentiment. And said that he is “indebted” to Drake for all of his career success.
“I’m forever indebted to Drake; my family is indebted to him as well. Whatever he needs, I’m always a call away,” he said.

Not only is Drake’s new album a classic, but it’s also historic. Iceman was officially named the top album on the Billboard Hot 200 this week. Officially moving past Jay-Z for the most number one albums by a rapper (via ChartData/X). After selling 463,000 units in its first week. Iceman also has the tenth biggest streaming debut in U.S. History with over 462 million streams in its first week.
