First, he sang with his father Dennis Graham, who was sporting a parrot on his shoulder. The song was actually one of Dennis’ “Kinda Crazy,” which he released on DSPS in 2017.
Later in the party, Drake showed love to his mentor Lil Wayne.
“I would not be here if it was not by way and courtesy of the young man Lil Wayne from YMCMB.”
Wayne was not able to attend the party.
He’s previously spoken about hundreds of songs he and Drake did sitting in the vault.
“We have a whole bunch of unreleased material. I go through stuff from 2014 and 2015, like… really unheard stuff,” Wayne said. “I edit stuff up and just send it to his phone so he can hear the new versions of it and get him going.”
Wayne also said that Drake has always responded positively when asked about releasing the material.
At one point, Lil Wayne and Drake had a hit streak that could rival OutKast. From 2008 to 2013, their collabs served as some of the biggest songs in music. Soon after, Wayne would hit a lul period and Drake would become a superstar, stemming from his dominant 2016.
It’s actually been over five years since Wayne and Drake connected, with the duo linking on Drake’s “You Only Live Twice,” off Certified Lover Boy. They also linked with Nicki Minaj for her track “Seeing Green.”
With Drake showing love to Wayne, it leaves open the possibility of getting to hear some prime Drizzy and Wayne.
