The ongoing saga between Pooh Shiesty and Gucci Mane has taken the rap industry by storm. And the latest media pundit to weigh in on the situation is Breakfast Club host, Charlamagne Tha God.
Charlamagne Addresses Pooh Shiesty, Gucci Mane Drama
During a recent episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast, Charlamagne weighed in on the ongoing narrative. That the situation regarding the two rappers was street justice being served. However, Charlamagne says that despite what rappers talk about in their music, they are businessmen at the end of the day.
“I think, at some point, f**k the street code,” Charlamagne Tha God said, caught by DJ Akademiks on Instagram. “These guys are businessmen, man. Here’s the thing: This is all alleged. I don’t know if Pooh Shiesty did any of this. I’m just going off the stories I heard.
Earlier this month, Pooh Shiesty was one of several men who were swooped up by the feds. Over their connection to an armed robbery that took place in Dallas this past January. Shiesty allegedly rounded up a group of men to hold Gucci Mane at gunpoint. And coerce him into signing paperwork that released him from his deal with 1017 Brick Squad.
Charlamagne’s Comments Spark Huge Debate
Charlamagne posed an interesting question related to the situation surrounding the two rappers. The Breakfast Club host says he wonders if Pooh Shiesty would have acted the same way with a white executive.
“I know that Pooh Shiesty wouldn’t do that to a white man. Whenever you hear these stories, it’s literally always the Black executives getting put in this position by Black artists,” he said.
Charlamagne’s statement sparked a huge debate in the comments section of the social media post.
“Cap, he woulda killed a white one,” one fan said.
“Of course he wouldn’t. None of the black people doing black crimes do it to any other nationality except themselves. It’s called self-hate,” a second user chimed in.
“Pooh did what he did coz he thought Gucci and him were cut from the same cloth,” a third user said.
If convicted, Shiesty could spend the rest of his life in prison.
