The recent comments made by DJ Whoo Kid just added an interesting twist to the saga between Drake and Universal Music Group (UMG).
Whoo Kid Says Grange Confronted Him Over Drake Diss
When Drake dropped Push Ups, his response to Kendrick Lamar’s initial shot on Like That, Whoo Kid’s producer tag is featured at the beginning of the song.
During a recent episode of his Whoo’s House Podcast, DJ Whoo Kid revealed that UMG CEO Lucien Grange hunted down his number and called him after Drake dropped the song, which aims at Lamar.
He clarifies that Grange thought he had leaked the track because of his producer tag. And wasn’t happy with the song as a whole, with Drake going at a fellow UMG artist. He also said that he did not understand how Grange got his number. Whoo Kid also clarified that he did not leak the song.

Drake Sues UMG Over ‘Not Like Us’
In 2025, Drake took legal action against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 hit record Not Like Us.
After the song remained atop the music charts for most of that year, Drake brought several companies into the litigation and accused them of defamation. Namely, UMG, after he alleged that they conspired to execute a mass promotion of the song. Particularly the lyric where he is referred to as a “certified pedo**ile”
Drake has appealed a judge’s 2025 decision to dismiss the lawsuit. However, in response to Drake’s appeal, UMG insists that he is sucking on sour grapes. Especially because he used their platform to “attack” Kendrick in a similar fashion.
“Although Drake had used UMG’s platform to attack Lamar in equally incendiary terms, he now claims UMG defamed him by releasing the recording, that the track violates N.Y. Penal Law, and that UMG’s promotion of it violated N.Y. General Business Law (GBL),” the filing reads as caught by XXL.
However, the latest revelation by Whoo Kid could benefit Drake as he navigates the appeals process.
