Kodak Black’s Super Bowl weekend in 2022 ended in chaos — and now, it’s coming back to haunt him in court.
The Florida rapper (real name Bill Kahan Kapri) is being sued for a whopping $10.6 million by two men who were injured in the February 12 shooting outside The Nice Guy in Los Angeles during Justin Bieber’s afterparty.
Viral footage from that night showed Kapri taking pics with fans before a street fight popped off — seconds later, gunshots rang out. Kodak, Mark Schaefer, and Adam Rahman were all hit. Schaefer, an autograph collector, was shot above the ankle and needed surgery. Rahman took a bullet to the shoulder. Kodak was struck in the leg and rushed to the hospital. No arrests were ever made.
The lawsuit claims Kodak started the fight that led to the gunfire. Bieber and The Nice Guy were originally named but later dropped from the case, leaving Kodak as the sole target.
This week (Aug. 6), the plaintiffs’ lawyer pushed for a “default” judgment, accusing Kodak of ignoring the complaint. A judge wasn’t having it, saying they failed to prove their damages — but gave them until Aug. 25 to try again.
Kodak’s attorney Bradford Cohen clapped back to TMZ Hip-Hop: “We are not paying them a thing — it’s us who are the victim of a legal assault by these two people.” Cohen says Kodak was never even served and only heard about the lawsuit when reporters called.
