Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was convicted of interstate prostitution charges in May. But even though his criminal case is over, he still has several ongoing legal disputes.
One of those disputes involves the media giant, NBC.
NBC Hits Back at Diddy’s $100 Million Lawsuit
After Diddy was swept up by the feds on RICO Charges in 2024, NBC released a documentary about Combs, titled Making of A Bad Boy. The doc delves into the past behaviour of the Bad Boy Records founder, which ultimately led to his arrest in 2024.
However, Diddy has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the network, accusing them of defamation. However, according to a recent report from AllHipHop’s Grouchy Greg Watkins, NBC recently hit back against Combs’ accusations. And to add insult to injury, the network is using Combs’ testimony in his RICO trial to plead their case.
The blurb that the network references in their rebuttal comes from Combs’ statement to trial Judge Arun Subramanian.
“Because of my decisions, I lost my freedom. I lost my career. I totally destroyed my reputation,” he said to Judge Subramanian.
In a recent filing, NBC notes that this statement in itself is an admission of guilt. Because Diddy has previously admitted to destroying his own reputation, he cannot blame the Making of a Bad Boy documentary for that same damage.
To this point, a decision has not been made on the lawsuit. However, if Combs does win, he would score a significant payday to the tune of $100 million from the network.
The Bad Boy Records founder was facing life in prison after being brought up on racketeering and trafficking charges. He was able to evade the more serious charges. Still, he was hit with a 50-month Prison sentence as a result of his conviction. However, he has since made multiple attempts to be released from jail.
As it currently stands, Diddy will be released from prison in May 2028.
