Lontrell Williams Sr., the father of Pooh Shiesty, is continuing his legal push for release after a federal judge temporarily halted an earlier bond decision in his favor.
In a newly filed brief, Williams argues that prosecutors have failed to prove he should remain behind bars as his case proceeds. His legal team contends the government has not presented “clear and convincing evidence” that he poses a danger to the public — the standard required to justify pretrial detention.
The filing also points to a prior ruling from Judge Christoff, who had approved Shiesty’s release despite his criminal history after weighing his personal background and circumstances. According to the defense, that earlier decision weakens the government’s current argument that Williams presents a serious risk.
The Memphis rapper is facing allegations tied to an incident at a Dallas recording studio involving Gucci Mane. Prosecutors claim he played a role in a situation where the rapper was allegedly robbed and pressured into signing documents that would release Pooh Shiesty from his deal with 1017 Records.
Shiesty has denied those claims, maintaining he was not inside the studio or directing any wrongdoing. His attorneys argue that, at most, the evidence suggests he “stood by” during the incident — a characterization they say falls short of proving dangerousness.
