On Thursday (May 7), the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder played a pivotal Game 2 matchup. The Thunder were looking to take control of the series with a 2-0 lead. And the Lakers were looking to steal a game on the road.
Lil Wayne Calls Out Refs During Lakers, Thunder Game
While the whole world had its eyes glued to the playoff matchup, Lil Wayne was upset with what he was seeing. And accused the refs of giving the Thunder a favorable whistle.
“OKC games are unwatchable. The refs are even dressed in their colors tn! Brazy,” he wrote on social media on Thursday.
Of course, Weezy’s social media post garnered a lot of reactions from fans.
“We got legends of the rap game even calling OKC and the refs unbelievable gg,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Oklahoma City Thunder games got that ‘anything is a foul’ setting turned on,” a second user chimed in.
“If a team is good enough, they should win regardless of ‘bad calls.” Stop looking for conspiracy theories and focus on the poor gameplay,” a third user added.

However, it wasn’t just Lil Wayne that had a problem with the officiating on Thursday night. Lakers head coach JJ Redick also called out the referees, particularly when it comes to how their star, LeBron James, is officiated.
“Lebron has the worst whistle of any player I’ve ever seen,” Redick said to reporters after the game. “Here are smaller guys, they can be theatric, and then the bigger guys like Lebron, he gets clobbered, it’s not a new thing…. guy gets hit on the head more than I ever seen when he drives.”
In the end, the Thunder came out on top with a 125-107 win over the Lakers. The series will now shift to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Saturday night.
