50 Cent had a message for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on social media on Thursday (July 2).
Mamdani recently sat down with Complex and discussed 50 Cent’s issues with him.
As with most things that go viral, 50 Cent reacted to the interview on social media. And told the Mayor that his attention should be focused on more important things.
“Man, focus on the wedding of the century, Taylor and Travis down at the garden. We don’t have beef; I just think some of these ideas are radical. Stay away from the taxes 🤨OK! ” the rapper wrote on Instagram on Thursday.
50 Cent & Zohran Mamdani’s Beef Explained
50 Cent and Mamdani have had their issues in the past. During Mamdani’s Mayoral campaign in 2025, the rap star was especially critical of his tax plan. Even though Mamdani is aware of 50 Cent’s stance on policy, it hasn’t affected his fandom. He even praised 50 Cent’s iconic Get Rich or Die Trying album as one of his favorites.
Despite his criticisms, in the past he has insisted that there is no beef between him and Mamdani. He doesn’t believe that Mamdani’s intentions are malicious, either. However, he does think that his tax plan will hurt the city.
“I think his intentions are good. But his Tax plan is gonna run the big money out of the city. And if he defunds the police, they are gonna purge,” the rapper wrote on social media back in 2025.
Mayor Mamdani is currently helping New York navigate through a brutal heat wave in the city. With temperatures reaching the triple digits in New York on Thursday, he was aware of potential heightened air conditioner usage. And requested that residents keep their thermostats no lower than 78 degrees.
The heat wave couldn’t have come at a worse time for New Yorkers. As Taylor Swift is also set to wed her NFL Beau, Travis Kelce, on Independence Day Weekend. At Madison Square Garden. Con Edison has already sent a message to customers in the area about potential outages. And requested decreased energy usage.
