During an October 28 interview with The Art of Dialogue, the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder questioned the transaction while suggesting that anyone spending that amount must have substantial plans for a film.
“I’m flattered that my life rights mean so much,” Dash said.
According to reporting on the auction, Everlasting Films LLC submitted the winning bid, beating a $500,000 backup offer. Dash also questioned the legal basis for selling his life rights and raised the possibility of challenging the arrangement.
The reported package includes approximately 100 hours of footage, photographs, memorabilia and an unreleased documentary project, with proceeds intended for creditors.
Dash has also formally objected to the sale, with his attorney seeking confirmation that he would not be required to communicate with, assist or participate in projects developed by the buyer.
